If your printer does not recognize the new cartridge, partially remove the cartridge and then place it back into place.

I don't suppose there's a way to get the ink cartridges into the change position when there is an error message (the catridges remain tucked out of sight on the far right of the printer)...? I have an EPSON-344, and have just replaced the Y ink cartridge, which seemed to go as one would expect: I turned on the printer, which told me the Y cartridge needed replacing; I clicked 'OK' for the 'replace now' option; the ink cartridges moved to the change position; I removed the old cartridge and clipped the new one in place, and closed the lid; the printer message said 'charging' for a short while, then returned to the usual home screen, ready for printing. As soon as I sent a job to the printer, the 000041 error appeared on the screen. The error message appears as soon as the printer is switched on, and the only option available is to switch the printer off again. As soon as the printer is switched on again, the same error message appears.
Good advice, but my printer says it doesn't recognise the ink cartige.
My Epson tells me when an ink cartridge is low or empty, but won't move the ink holder into place when I open the lid and this prevents me from removing the old cartridge and putting the new one in. After over an hour of my life that I will never get back sitting on the phone with Epson printer support, this way works. I wish Epson would fix this flaw instead of wasting money on support after the fact. This will be my last Epson printer.

it would be good if manufacturers put a manual with printer, their excuse we're saving paper so why not use recycled paper like many other company.
