Solution #2 worked on our MFC-495CW. Previously it would drop off the network in less than 12 hours. Been 2 days and the printer is still online. We lost power a couple of times over the summer and the order that the router, printer and PC were turned back on was different. Didn't realize that startup order was that important.
I have a Brother 7840W. While I like the printer, I had connection problems regularly. The printer is in the bedroom next to a wireless booster. The bedroom has blackout shades. When the shades are up, the wireless connection does not work. When the shades are down, the connection works all the time. I am in the center of a big city. I am pretty certain that there is something in the Brother Wireless hardware that fails when it is in an environments with multiple wireless signals.
Everything else in the house works. The printer worked for 10 months, now it constantly disconnects from the wifi. Having to unplug and reset and re-enter password every time I need to print is ridiculous.
Brother HL-L2370DW worked great for about a year, then it fell off the wireless and refused to reconnect. Tried the "Network Connection Repair Tool", but running that on Windows 10 64-bit give "error decompressing the archive". Why is wireless printing not a solved problem in 2022? Think I might be done with Brother printers.
This is THE WORST PRINTER EVER!!! And "Brother" knows this, and yet they are still selling it. They refuse to fix anything or take responsibility for this and likewise they want us to walk away and forget them. I think the only way to resolve this is by a class action lawsuit in Federal Court. That will wake them up a bit and we may get some reimbursements for the lemons they have been selling as printers.
So, I need to walk ALL THE WAY across the house to reset my router, walk to the other side of the house to reset the brother printer I already set up and uninstall and reinstall your software, ALL just so I can print once before it SLEEPS again and has to be reset AGAIN... You know what is easier than this? Buying a different brand of WIRELESS printer... If you have to manually reset it everytime, it isn't efficient and is a waste of your money.
I resolved my issue with the printer not working by removing it from the list and re adding it. I then restarted my pc to finish the set up and it now works as should.
NEVER BUYING ANOTHER BROTHER PRINTER AND WILL STEER ANYONE ELSE AWAY IF THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT US TO DO EVERY FRIGGIN DAY!!!!!

OH BROTHER! I have had my DCP6090CW and I'm convinced it's got hormonal issues. We like most have worked at home during the pandemic and connecting this printer constantly is infuriating. The fact you have to make a video about how to reconnect in 4 easy steps speaks volumes. But then it disconnects again at a whim. This was not a cheap printer, and it does do a lot IF YOU CAN GET IT TO WORK. I think sadly it's going in the trash and it can stay sleeping forever.
I've found one great solution!
this printer has some general issue when you want to use it from several devices on wi-fi. In my case only one or two from my 5 devices working and only after printer reboot! Vary poor software...so disappointing

TTL is set wrongly in firmware. It disconnects too quickly. It needs a longer TTL (time to live). DHCP needs to be configured to reconnect to a fixed IP address. Basic networking. It is a pity the manufacturer is so useless re networking skills. Maybe they need to get their engineers to be trained on networking technology.

Brother printer indicates paper jam, but all is clear
Tried to change the ssid and password to suit a new wifi router but despite pressing the menu and scrolling up and down could not find "network". This on my friend's MFC-L27030DW printer. Forced to us a USB connection.
Brothers are the worst wireless printers ever... We have HPs, Ricohs and Samsungs, all wireless, all working flawless... but the Brother keeps disappearing EVERY couple of days... Sometimes more than once a day, it goes to sleep, and never returns...
No help out there for label printers with lost wifi! I have VC 500 suddenly lost wifi connection when everything else is connected
